Introduced in 1986, Betacam SP, for Superior Performance, upgraded the original Betacam with higher resolution and longer-running metal-particle tapes. It became the professional broadcast workhorse for well over a decade.
Betacam SP recorded a higher-resolution picture, which means there is more detail to preserve with a careful, high-quality transfer.
