Select the types of media you want converted, enter your estimated quantities, and choose options like quality, resolution, output format, delivery method, and return shipping. Your estimate updates instantly, down to the penny, in real time. When you’re ready, reserve your place in line, request a Safe Shipping Kit, or schedule an in-person drop-off.

If you’re shipping your media, you can either pack it yourself or let us make it easy with one of our Safe Shipping Kits, which include a sturdy box, protective packing materials, and prepaid return shipping starting at just $35. If you prefer, you’re always welcome to drop off your media in person during our business hours.

We recommend shipping with UPS or FedEx. If you choose USPS, be sure to purchase tracking and keep your tracking number until your package has been delivered.

Important: Be sure to include your return address with your order. If your address changes before your project is completed, simply contact us and we’ll update it before returning your originals.

Once your media arrives at Legacy Digital, it’s handled with the same care we’d give our own family memories. We carefully unpack your shipment, inventory every item, assign tracking labels, and enter your order into our production system before placing it in the conversion queue.

You’ll receive an email or phone call confirming we’ve safely received your order. If your deposit hasn’t yet been paid, we’ll collect it at this time so we can begin processing your project.

When it’s time to begin your project, our experienced technicians carefully prepare each piece of media for the best possible results. Every format has its own specialized workflow.

Film is inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and prepared for frame-by-frame scanning. Unlike many companies, we never splice multiple reels together, preserving each reel as its own digital file. Photos and slides are carefully cleaned to remove dust and debris before scanning, while videotapes are inspected and prepared for capture.

Once everything has been properly prepared, we begin converting your memories to high-quality digital files using professional equipment. If you’ve selected restoration services, we’ll apply the requested enhancements—including color correction, stabilization, dust and scratch reduction, grain reduction, or other digital restoration—to help your memories look as close as possible to the day they were originally captured.

Every project is carefully reviewed before it leaves our facility. Our technicians inspect your digital files for completeness, image quality, and any requested restoration work to ensure everything has been processed correctly.

If something doesn’t meet our standards, we fix it before your order is complete. It’s one of the many reasons families, archives, museums, universities, and even Hollywood studios trust Legacy Digital with their most valuable memories.

Once your project is complete, we’ll copy your newly digitized files to the destination you selected, carefully package your original media along with your digital copies, and prepare everything for pickup or shipment.

Before your order is returned, we’ll process any remaining balance due. If your order is being shipped, you’ll receive an email and/or phone call with your tracking information. If you chose local pickup, we’ll let you know as soon as your order is ready.

For your peace of mind, we typically retain an archival copy of your digital files for a short time after your order is completed in case you need an additional copy. However, please do not rely on us as your long-term backup. We strongly recommend making at least two backups of your digital memories and storing them in separate locations.

The boxes are put away. The projector stays in the closet. The VCR isn’t needed anymore.
