I had a great time working with Scott, saving about 30 reels of film from my girls' childhood that they can now show to their kids. He was extremely responsive and very professional, the price was right, and he was even so kind as to get the digitized collection back to us before Mother's Day!

I just got my latest film transfers back from Legacy Digital, and I had to say WOW. I am totally amazed. I received some old 16mm films from my brother in law, that belonged to his Dad, and they were stored in the garage, some of them outside of a film can, some dusty and dirty. They are old WWII news reals, and other films. The edges were curing, and some of them smelled like vinegar, and I wasn't sure if they would be able to be transferred, so I called Scott at Legacy Digital to come take a look and see what he could do. They had done a great job on my super 8 films, and so I thought I would give it a try. He looked at them and said that they should be able to copy them. When I got them back, I was totally amazed. They were very clean and clear, one even had sound, which was a surprise to me, and some of them were also in color from back in the 40s. I am extremely happy with the work that was done, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. They come and pick up the files, and then deliver them, so you don't have to worry about them getting lost in the mail, and the quality is amazing. I requested 1080P frame by frame scans with a digital copy saved on an external hard disk. Thanks again Legacy Digital.

The need to preserve them and to be able to easily share them with other family members. Fantastic job of X-ferring my old 8mm and Super 8 sound reels. Picture quality was greatly improved with the right amount of color, light, and darkness. Just a beautiful job and it's like visiting my family once again. Easy to recommend. Pricing also was very fair.

My entire family wants to thank you for bringing the reel to reels back to life on DVD. Although the tapes were old, the color and content were of the highest quality. Many family members lost photos in the California fires, so you can imagine the joy when they saw themselves on DVD. Legacy Digital did an excellent job! I had about 30 reels of very old movie film, some over 60 years old without sound that ran on an old projector. The projector no longer worked so I couldn’t watch. I decided to take the reels to Legacy Digital, and they put everything on a flash drive. Now I can watch on my computer! It was done quickly and for a reasonable price. Thanks!

Thanks to Scott I now have all of my mom and dad's 8 mm film from the 50' and 60's preserved on hard drive. It's such a pleasure dealing with a real person one on one let alone the owner of the company vs. a Costco or big box store. The quality of the conversion from film to hard drive is excellent and now I can play the movies on a flat screen TV. What impressed me most is that Scott will take time to explaining the process he uses and how it differs from other companies. As far as the pricing what are your once in a life time memories worth from 60 years ago. You can always pay more and get less as well as paying less and getting what you paid for. I feel I received Hollywood quality at a reasonable and fair rate.

Very satisfied, but you have to be patient. I had 1700 feet of old (1950 - 70's) 8mm and Super8 film digitized. Converted to both SD and HD formats onto a disk drive that I supplied, so files are quite large (20GB for 8" reel - 400'). But the higher resolution (than DVD using mpg2 compression) is better for my purpose of video editing. HD is 1920x1080, but of course the image is still the original 4 x 3 aspect ratio (which makes the picture part 1440 x 1080) so as expected there are black bars on either side -- but resolution is as good or better than the film (some sites estimate 8mm film resolution to be around 800 by 600). It took about 7 weeks (they said 6 to 8 weeks), so be prepared to deal with that turn-around time. But quality was superb -- with the knowledge that film stock does degrade/fade over the years. But the video files that they produced was what was on the film, and in fact is _better_ than what I'd seen before with a projector, because now the lighting is consistent and doesn't fade or blur towards the corners.

I am a video professional but was wondering if legacy digital could do a better transfer job than I could. Yes they can! These folks are great! audio and video quality was superb and the effort put toward transcribing the chicken scratch on the original tapes onto the new file names was awesome! my order consisted of 8 mm and hi 8 millimeter video that I was having trouble digitizing on my systems. super easy to work with. Families going through "treasures" when moving can be a huge undertaking, and ours was no exception. Upon finding some 8mm of my wife's grandparents, Legacy Digital did an outstanding job of saving these "treasures!" The quality was unbelievable, and the difference between "C***co vs. Legacy was clearly defined, and most importantly, substantiated! Now, Legacy is working on MY Family's 8mm, and should not expect anything else. All 26 reels I sent in were completed and sent back, within the time frame that we discussed before starting. The quality of the finished product is impressive, I am very happy with how everything turned out. All of the reels were returned cleaned and carefully packaged.

The guys at Legacy Digital are awesome!! I've had them work on about three different projects for me over the last 7 years, and the work had been top notch on all three services. The first: we found some very old 8mm reels of my dad and my grandfather. When I found them, I recognized what I thought they were, but I didn't even have a machine to play them on. I'd heard that Legacy did a great job with direct transfer (not recapturing on a screen) and color correction. Boy was I thrilled with the result!!! These movies were better (more brilliant in color) that what I remembered and it was amazing to see it all on a nice large HD TV instead of on an old grey 8mm screen, with a projector whirring loudly in the background. He offered me options to have it directly on a hard drive if I wanted to edit, onto a DVD, or bluray disc. We opted for the DVD since it worked on more of our players at the time. He uses a higher quality DVD than other outfits so we should be able to keep and enjoy these old films for a long time. The second: several years later, we came upon an entire box of slides in our attic some time ago, and I kind of held on to them for a while, trying to decide whether to transfer them to digital. I was SOOO glad I did! There were some absolute treasures in there. Pictures that brought back all kinds of memories and even some pictures I don't remember, but was able to recognize folks I hadn't seen in a long time, again because of the great quality of transfer. The third: not long after (about 4 months ago) we found the rest of the family's old Super 8 movies. I found the projector as well, but by this time I was already convinced that if I tried to play these old movies on an old projector without cleaning them and without knowing if the projector still worked...I might ruin the film. Scott had showed me before how they clean and lubricate the reels BEFORE doing the transfer, so I had them take this batch as well. Got them back, and watched them several times with popcorn. What a great family night activity!! They did everything I could have asked for and more. I give them my unqualified recommendation!!

Highly recommend Legacy Digital Productions, they were very good at follow up and communication regarding our order. Everything was processed and shipped promptly. Blank areas on the VHS tapes were edited out, a service not done by many digital transfer companies. A friend who is very tech knowledgeable was impressed by the quality of the files created and stored on the thumb drive. At the fair i happened to stumble onto this great company after literally spending months trying to find a good company to convert my grand dad's old films and vhs. Low and behold, they talk me through their quality and practice, and I'm hooked! Because of the number i sent it took a short while, but the quality and price was amazing! They even fixed and cleaned up the films! This is by far the best digitized company around!

My friends and family and I made some backyard Super 8 monster movies back in the 1980s. They were a lot of fun, and we remember them fondly. When the time came, I turned to Legacy Digital to handle the transfer. I knew Legacy was using a reliable scanner that handles film gently. I also knew that the owners and staff are actually just as knowledgeable about small gauge film as they are about the latest digital technology. They know and love the old stuff and the new stuff. Scott, the owner, made himself available to me anytime I had a question, and was very good about communicating the process to me. With my particular films, it was a voyage of discovery for all of us, believe me. The results are absolutely super. The staff at Legacy Digital really went above and beyond the call of duty to stabilize and color correct my particular 30-year-old footage. And it's obvious that my camera original Super 8 movie film, still every bit as precious to me even after digitizing, has been handled with gentle and respectful hands. That means a lot. When it comes to transferring your home movies, there are other options out there. Some are shady operators who may damage your film. Others are real professionals, but the ones I have in mind cater to the professional filmmaker and command high prices. If you want dynamite, professional results at a reasonable price, in my view, you need look no further. Legacy Digital is your first and only stop.

Legacy did a great job transferring a 400 foot reel of 16mm color movie film from 1943-1945. The quality was much higher than I expected, given that the films had been (improperly) stored and unused for about 50 years. I will be using Legacy to transfer more of these family treasures in the near future.

I just has an old VHS of our ship's decommissioning given to me and I had no idea what to do with it. Legacy took care of that (DVD and MP4) and were very friendly and professional. I would use them again and recommend them to others.
