Thanks to Scott I now have all of my mom and dad's 8 mm film from the 50' and 60's preserved on hard drive. It's such a pleasure dealing with a real person one on one let alone the owner of the company vs. a Costco or big box store. The quality of the conversion from film to hard drive is excellent and now I can play the movies on a flat screen TV. What impressed me most is that Scott will take time to explaining the process he uses and how it differs from other companies. As far as the pricing what are your once in a life time memories worth from 60 years ago. You can always pay more and get less as well as paying less and getting what you paid for. I feel I received Hollywood quality at a reasonable and fair rate.

Very satisfied, but you have to be patient. I had 1700 feet of old (1950 - 70's) 8mm and Super8 film digitized. Converted to both SD and HD formats onto a disk drive that I supplied, so files are quite large (20GB for 8" reel - 400'). But the higher resolution (than DVD using mpg2 compression) is better for my purpose of video editing. HD is 1920x1080, but of course the image is still the original 4 x 3 aspect ratio (which makes the picture part 1440 x 1080) so as expected there are black bars on either side -- but resolution is as good or better than the film (some sites estimate 8mm film resolution to be around 800 by 600). It took about 7 weeks (they said 6 to 8 weeks), so be prepared to deal with that turn-around time. But quality was superb -- with the knowledge that film stock does degrade/fade over the years. But the video files that they produced was what was on the film, and in fact is _better_ than what I'd seen before with a projector, because now the lighting is consistent and doesn't fade or blur towards the corners.

Everyone was very pleased with the results. I was especially grateful for the "extra" mile you and your group went to to assure our discs were top notch. I just has an old VHS of our ship's decommissioning given to me and I had no idea what to do with it. Legacy took care of that (DVD and MP4) and were very friendly and professional. I would use them again and recommend them to others.

Fantastic, is the word I would use. My parents had taken 8mm movies of the family back in 1957 thru 1972. Had all the families, both sides, and friends, in most of the movies. Some of these old movies were 60 years old. Many hours of family movies, the old days. Scott, who I spoke to, the owner of Legacy Digital, assured me customer satisfaction was his goal. He spent some time explaining the process to digitize the film. Really, when was the last time you spoke to the owner of a business, on his cell phone. Long story short, the results of the film to digital were fantastic. The film is cleaned before the transfer begins. I showed my 90 year old aunt some of the film, she had tears in her eyes. She was about 28 years old when some were taken. She saw her dad who died in 1960, saw her son, died in 1986. If you have old or new film that needs transfer to digital, go with the best, Legacy Digital. Scott and his staff will take the time to transfer it correctly and to your satisfaction.

My Grandparents had 8mm films that I had transferred to dvd. Scott came to my home and explained in detail the process. When completed, he actually came to my job to deliver. I was surprised what a great job they did. So after some tears and laughs seeing 50 years of film, I have something to share with my children and grandchildren. My entire family wants to thank you for bringing the reel to reels back to life on DVD. Although the tapes were old, the color and content were of the highest quality. Many family members lost photos in the California fires, so you can imagine the joy when they saw themselves on DVD. Highly recommend Legacy Digital Productions, they were very good at follow up and communication regarding our order. Everything was processed and shipped promptly. Blank areas on the VHS tapes were edited out, a service not done by many digital transfer companies. I worked with Scott at Legacy Productions in Irvine to transfer 10 reels of old home movies without sound (8 MM reels). Years ago I picked up one of their flyers at an exhibit booth at the Orange County Fair. Now that I was ready to get these put on digital for my computer, I found this old flyer. That is amazing in itself (that I still had it). I checked out the company online and found they still exist and I particularly liked the process they use (not projecting on a screen and recording it again which might lose quality, like so many of the companies do). They turned out great on a flash drive which I provided. I saved them on my computer, then directly imported them into iMovie on my MAC and I added my own music and created finished movies. I had a great time picking out just the right music for them and adding titles, etc. I can't thank Scott enough for his patience answering my questions to help me along getting them copied onto my end. It took about 5 or 6 weeks in my case to receive them. I would recommend them to everyone. They are a reputable company.

I had a lot of 8mm tapes I needed converted before they got the chance to deteriorate. After searching and searching I contacted Legacy Digital Productions. After a lot of hesitation and fear of losing tapes, I convinced my mom to finally have these tapes converted with assurance from Scott. Scott drove out to my house to personally pick up the 20+ tapes. When they were ready, Scott delivered them safely back. It's a truly priceless feeling to see your old memories played back. To hear the voices of those we've lost. I can't thank you guys enough. We also had some old films converted for my mom to DVD. I just discovered more tapes I will need converted and I will use this company again. They earned my trust.

Scott and his team at Legacy Digital did an amazing job with my 45 year old 8mm films. After they clean the film they scan each frame and adjust for brightness and contrast. The film never runs through a projector. I ordered a Bluray and as files on a hard drive. I am a video editor by trade. I work on high end movie trailers and TV commercials. I know quality and professionalism and Legacy Digital has both.

The need to preserve them and to be able to easily share them with other family members. After researching several [alleged] companies, Legacy Digital was the only one whom I was convinced would take the best possible care with my irreplaceable films. Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! They delivered on every promise they made and the results were better than I dared hope.

I sent Legacy Digital 8mm film from the early 60's that no one in my family had seen since shortly after it was made and I cried watching my grandparents emoting and behaving the ways I would have at the age they were at that time - because I am their age now. Legacy Digital ain't shot any of that footage and I won't thank them for that, but the quality is crystal clear as it gets, even with the basic service (which I chose because I preferred having the raw footage so that I can do any post-production clean up on my own). The process was simple - I received a quote almost immediately and speaking with the owner is easy, he's quick to respond, and is incredibly easy to speak to. I delivered half of my reels in person because I wanted to see the shop in person before I trusted them with my rushes, and the person transferring the footage at the office who helped me fill out the necessary paperwork was clear, concise, and kind. I saw the equipment they had set up transferring film and it was a well kept environment despite the fact that they were clearly very busy. They shipped my footage back by UPS and it was delivered safely and soundly, they packed it very well. I sent the rest of my footage to them to be processed and can't wait to see how it looks. I would recommend anyone send their footage here - they know the difference between file export types and use a scanner, not a projector/camera set up to shoot the film through a digital camera. They deserve the five stars. It's expensive, but entirely worth it.

Families going through "treasures" when moving can be a huge undertaking, and ours was no exception. Upon finding some 8mm of my wife's grandparents, Legacy Digital did an outstanding job of saving these "treasures!" The quality was unbelievable, and the difference between "C***co vs. Legacy was clearly defined, and most importantly, substantiated! Now, Legacy is working on MY Family's 8mm, and should not expect anything else.
