I worked with Scott at Legacy Productions in Irvine to transfer 10 reels of old home movies without sound (8 MM reels). Years ago I picked up one of their flyers at an exhibit booth at the Orange County Fair. Now that I was ready to get these put on digital for my computer, I found this old flyer. That is amazing in itself (that I still had it). I checked out the company online and found they still exist and I particularly liked the process they use (not projecting on a screen and recording it again which might lose quality, like so many of the companies do). They turned out great on a flash drive which I provided. I saved them on my computer, then directly imported them into iMovie on my MAC and I added my own music and created finished movies. I had a great time picking out just the right music for them and adding titles, etc. I can't thank Scott enough for his patience answering my questions to help me along getting them copied onto my end. It took about 5 or 6 weeks in my case to receive them. I would recommend them to everyone. They are a reputable company.

My entire family wants to thank you for bringing the reel to reels back to life on DVD. Although the tapes were old, the color and content were of the highest quality. Many family members lost photos in the California fires, so you can imagine the joy when they saw themselves on DVD. I highly recommend your trustworthy service to anyone wanting to preserve memories from reel to reel tapes.

Scott was diligent in keeping me up to date on the progress. This is not the least expensive service, but you get what you pay for.

At the fair i happened to stumble onto this great company after literally spending months trying to find a good company to convert my grand dad's old films and vhs. Low and behold, they talk me through their quality and practice, and I'm hooked! Because of the number i sent it took a short while, but the quality and price was amazing! They even fixed and cleaned up the films! This is by far the best digitized company around!

The guys at Legacy Digital are awesome!! I've had them work on about three different projects for me over the last 7 years, and the work had been top notch on all three services. The first: we found some very old 8mm reels of my dad and my grandfather. When I found them, I recognized what I thought they were, but I didn't even have a machine to play them on. I'd heard that Legacy did a great job with direct transfer (not recapturing on a screen) and color correction. Boy was I thrilled with the result!!! These movies were better (more brilliant in color) that what I remembered and it was amazing to see it all on a nice large HD TV instead of on an old grey 8mm screen, with a projector whirring loudly in the background. He offered me options to have it directly on a hard drive if I wanted to edit, onto a DVD, or bluray disc. We opted for the DVD since it worked on more of our players at the time. He uses a higher quality DVD than other outfits so we should be able to keep and enjoy these old films for a long time. The second: several years later, we came upon an entire box of slides in our attic some time ago, and I kind of held on to them for a while, trying to decide whether to transfer them to digital. I was SOOO glad I did! There were some absolute treasures in there. Pictures that brought back all kinds of memories and even some pictures I don't remember, but was able to recognize folks I hadn't seen in a long time, again because of the great quality of transfer. The third: not long after (about 4 months ago) we found the rest of the family's old Super 8 movies. I found the projector as well, but by this time I was already convinced that if I tried to play these old movies on an old projector without cleaning them and without knowing if the projector still worked...I might ruin the film. Scott had showed me before how they clean and lubricate the reels BEFORE doing the transfer, so I had them take this batch as well. Got them back, and watched them several times with popcorn. What a great family night activity!! They did everything I could have asked for and more. I give them my unqualified recommendation!!

Fantastic quality, service, and price. My old family 8 mm movies that were transferred look great. Some of them are from the 50s. I ordered Blu-rays and simply provided an external hard drive for computer files that can be copied and edited. With the files its easy to capture stills and snippets of a moment in time. Some of the other transfer companies don't provide editable computer files. Highly recommended.

My Grandparents had 8mm films that I had transferred to dvd. Scott came to my home and explained in detail the process. When completed, he actually came to my job to deliver. I was surprised what a great job they did. So after some tears and laughs seeing 50 years of film, I have something to share with my children and grandchildren. I would and have recommended to everyone, worth every penny.

A special thanks to Scott for always being reliable and available to answer any questions. All 26 reels I sent in were completed and sent back, within the time frame that we discussed before starting. The quality of the finished product is impressive, I am very happy with how everything turned out. All of the reels were returned cleaned and carefully packaged.

I am a video professional but was wondering if legacy digital could do a better transfer job than I could. Yes they can! These folks are great! audio and video quality was superb and the effort put toward transcribing the chicken scratch on the original tapes onto the new file names was awesome! my order consisted of 8 mm and hi 8 millimeter video that I was having trouble digitizing on my systems. super easy to work with. Excellent service and price - would strongly recommend. Converted almost 1500 slides to digital and they not only did the job quickly but did excellent work.

I just got my latest film transfers back from Legacy Digital, and I had to say WOW. I am totally amazed. I received some old 16mm films from my brother in law, that belonged to his Dad, and they were stored in the garage, some of them outside of a film can, some dusty and dirty. They are old WWII news reals, and other films. The edges were curing, and some of them smelled like vinegar, and I wasn't sure if they would be able to be transferred, so I called Scott at Legacy Digital to come take a look and see what he could do. They had done a great job on my super 8 films, and so I thought I would give it a try. He looked at them and said that they should be able to copy them. When I got them back, I was totally amazed. They were very clean and clear, one even had sound, which was a surprise to me, and some of them were also in color from back in the 40s. I am extremely happy with the work that was done, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. They come and pick up the files, and then deliver them, so you don't have to worry about them getting lost in the mail, and the quality is amazing. I requested 1080P frame by frame scans with a digital copy saved on an external hard disk. Thanks again Legacy Digital.

Scott, the owner of Legacy Digital made me ( a total non computer person) feel very comfortable and explained which media was best for converting our old memories from several different choices. He was so patient and communicated with me the whole way! I am thrilled with his expertise advice! I learned a lot from him! I had a lot of 8mm tapes I needed converted before they got the chance to deteriorate. After searching and searching I contacted Legacy Digital Productions. After a lot of hesitation and fear of losing tapes, I convinced my mom to finally have these tapes converted with assurance from Scott. Scott drove out to my house to personally pick up the 20+ tapes. When they were ready, Scott delivered them safely back. It's a truly priceless feeling to see your old memories played back. To hear the voices of those we've lost. I can't thank you guys enough. We also had some old films converted for my mom to DVD. I just discovered more tapes I will need converted and I will use this company again. They earned my trust.

The need to preserve them and to be able to easily share them with other family members. After researching several [alleged] companies, Legacy Digital was the only one whom I was convinced would take the best possible care with my irreplaceable films. Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! My friends and family and I made some backyard Super 8 monster movies back in the 1980s. They were a lot of fun, and we remember them fondly. When the time came, I turned to Legacy Digital to handle the transfer. I knew Legacy was using a reliable scanner that handles film gently. I also knew that the owners and staff are actually just as knowledgeable about small gauge film as they are about the latest digital technology. They know and love the old stuff and the new stuff. Scott, the owner, made himself available to me anytime I had a question, and was very good about communicating the process to me. With my particular films, it was a voyage of discovery for all of us, believe me. The results are absolutely super. The staff at Legacy Digital really went above and beyond the call of duty to stabilize and color correct my particular 30-year-old footage. And it's obvious that my camera original Super 8 movie film, still every bit as precious to me even after digitizing, has been handled with gentle and respectful hands. That means a lot. When it comes to transferring your home movies, there are other options out there. Some are shady operators who may damage your film. Others are real professionals, but the ones I have in mind cater to the professional filmmaker and command high prices. If you want dynamite, professional results at a reasonable price, in my view, you need look no further. Legacy Digital is your first and only stop.

Legacy Digital has done an excellent job on the two projects I have given them to do.

Legacy did a great job transferring a 400 foot reel of 16mm color movie film from 1943-1945. The quality was much higher than I expected, given that the films had been (improperly) stored and unused for about 50 years. I will be using Legacy to transfer more of these family treasures in the near future.

Fantastic job of X-ferring my old 8mm and Super 8 sound reels. Picture quality was greatly improved with the right amount of color, light, and darkness. Just a beautiful job and it's like visiting my family once again. Easy to recommend. Pricing also was very fair.

Scott and Legacy Digital did an amazing job of converting 4,000+ feet of 1960's 8mm film on 45+ separate reels to Blu-ray DVD and an external hard drive. I'm only part of the way through the first of 3 DVD's and just what I've seen already is worth more than what I paid. I researched digital conversion services thoroughly before deciding to use Legacy Digital and they exceeded my high expectations.
