With Legacy Digital you will only pay for the media we can convert
Other companies, especially the box companies, charge you full price for half-empty reels, give you 2 hour video files when video tapes only had 20 minutes of content, or charge you for photos and slides that are so faded or worn out that it doesn’t make sense to try to capture them. They also focus on price vs. quality – and who wants converted media that isn’t as good as it could be? With Legacy Digital you’ll only pay for the work we actually do. And, we’ll do it right the first time.
Converting Video Tapes
Some companies advertise extremely low prices for video tapes. But did you know if a tape is worn out, won’t run, or contains copyrighted material, you will still pay for each and every tape?
These companies will sometimes deliver grainy distorted video files and even sometimes files with no video content on them at all. Why? Because they don’t actually monitor the tapes to make sure the transfer went smoothly – and they can’t for the prices they charge.
With Legacy Digital you won’t receive digital files that are unviable due to the tapes being too worn out to recover the video from. You won’t receive a 90 minute video file with only 5 minutes of actual video. You won’t pay for tapes that we can’t run because they are damaged. And if they are damaged, we won’t discard them, in fact sometimes we’ll actually try to repair them to preserve your prescious memories.
We actually put the time and resources into monitoring the video conversions.
We work with just about every videotapes format. We can convert your VHS, Super VHS, Compact VHS (VHS-C), 8 mm, Hi8, Digital 8, MiniDV, Betamax and DVCAM to digital MP4 or MOV files on request.
With Legacy Digital, you only pay for the tapes we are able to convert and you won’t pay for what we can’t.

Transferring Film
Many companies charge by the reel, not by the foot. At Legacy Digital, we charge for the work we actually do.
What do we mean? Here’s an example.
Let’s say you have 30 x 3″ reels to convert. Some reels are full, and some are partially full. Company A, which charges $12 per reel, will bill you $360, usually for lower resolution scans.
With Legacy Digital, we measure the actual feet we transfer. Your 30 mixed reels might be equal to 24 full reels, costing you $336, saving you $24. Plus, you’ll receive your files in Full HD. And the image quality difference will surprise you.
With Legacy Digital, you only pay for the actual feet transferred.
- Actual film transferred by feet
Only pay for:
- Blank video files
- Full reels that are not full
- Film that cannot be transferred

Photo Scanning
Clients sometimes send photos that we just can’t scan. They are damaged beyond repair. In these cases we will inform you of the issues but never charge you for the work that we can’t complete.
While other companies might charge you for work that can’t be done, with Legacy Digital you’ll only pay for what we can do.
