How it works

Pack you media along with a copy of your order confirmation. Make sure the media is snug in the box. Items should not be loose or rattle around.  Loose items can lead to them being scratched, bent or damaged during transit.  We recommend using FedEx or UPS for shipping. If you prefer the USPS, please make sure that you add tracking. Keep your tracking information handy until your shiptment has been delivered.

When your package arrives at LegacyDigital we will carefully remove the contents, inventory and catalog your order.  We will label your items and add them to the production queue.  At thsi time you will usually receive an email or phone call – and if you haven’t yet paid your deposit we’ll collect it at this time.

When it’s time to begin processing your order and digitizing your media, one of our professional team members will get things ready.  We will separate your media based on the type and get it to the various stations.  Film will be cleaned and lubricated, and prepared for conversion.  And we never splice all the reels together like the others.  Photos and slides will be cleaned of debris.  Video tapes will be prepared.  Once all prep work is completed, we will begin processing your order to digital files.  If you’ve added post processing, we will do what was asked to digitally restore the imagery to get it as close as possible to the day it was filmed or recorded. 

Upon completion we will copy the files from our storage system to the media you selected, package everything up, charge any remaining balance and ship your newly digitized media to you along with your originals. You’ll usually also receive phone call and/or an email with your return tracking information as well. We typically store an archival copy of your media for a couple of weeks in the event you need anything but please do not count on us as a backup.
